Martin uses an impressionistic style, rather than photo realism, to capture the essence and likeness of his subjects. Using elements in a person’s expression along with posture and body language, he simply and accurately shows the character and personality of each person he sculpts. He does portrait work in relief, bust, or full figure sculpture.

The Process

• Martin works from sittings with a live model and/or imagery such as video or photographs.
• Sculpts original in water based clay.
• Rubber molds are made from the original.
• Sculpture may be cast in bronze, bronze composite, marble composite, or plaster. Patinas may be used to finish.
• Timing depends on getting it right…usually 3 sittings with a live model. Completion of piece can also be deadline driven.

Pricing

• Bust: $10,000 for clay original
• Full Figure: $50,000 for clay original
• Molds / casts / bases are priced separately
